5 perfects plans to kick off the summer

5 perfects plans to kick off the summer

It’s only June, but thermometers all across Spain are already registering temperatures of at least 35ºC, and the streets and lidos are filled with people. Summer is definitely here! Here are five plans to welcome the season.

The summer heat has now settled, and it seems it’s here to stay until mid-September. Although high temperatures can be exhausting, and it’s tempting to just stay in under the AC system, you should seize every summer day – You’ll miss the sun once it’s gone! These are five ways to embrace the new season.

Create your own food-tasting route

There are two types of people: those for whom eating out when abroad is not important, and those who turn it into their hobby. If you are traveling somewhere for the first time, find out what the best local bars and restaurants are, and create your own route. You will not only taste the local cuisine, but you will get to do so in a myriad of ways – on seaside terraces, on roof terraces with stunning views, on the grass… Find your favourite place!

Enjoy live music

Over the summer, gigs and festivals multiply, especially by the sea. If you love festivals, check out the line-ups for FIB, Arenal Sound, BBK Live, or for smaller ones such as Granada Sound, Cabo de Gata or Festival de los Sentidos.

If you prefer a less crowded but equally lively atmosphere, try going to a national artist’s Spanish tour. For something even more local, check the entertainment guide listings and let the music flow through your veins.

Plan a getaway

Why not travel somewhere new this summer? If you haven’t visited the Canary Islands, come discover Fuerteventura and its more than 150 km of white sand and blue water beaches. You can stay at Elba Palace Golf & Vital Hotel, our 5-star, adults-only hotel, and enjoy many activities: from snorkelling to drinking mojitos in our beach club.

Swim in a natural pool

Bathing in cold mountain meltwater is something to experience at least once in a lifetime. Luckily, there are countless natural pools across Spain. We recommend incorporating them into a hiking route instead of driving to one – as well finding virtually untouched areas, you will avoid producing any pollution. Ask the locals, they will know what to recommend!

Take up a water sport

If you start learning now, by the end of the summer, you can be an expert in surfing, water skiing, kitesurfing or sailing. At first, these sports can be hard and quite physically demanding, but what could compare to the experience of spending your holidays practising in the sea until dusk?

There are many water sports academies with a wide range of prices across Andalusia and Lanzarote. Ask our reception staff for more information.
