Did you know that Lanzarote is a volcanic island?

Did you know that Lanzarote is a volcanic island?

This island of volcanic origin is one of the most beautiful in the world.  Learn more about its volcanoes with Elba Hotels. Just for the brave!

Twenty million years ago, tons of lava erupted from the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean. This is how the island of Lanzarote was born, with its varied landscapes, incredible colours and craters.

Lanzarote is a volcanic island that –just like the rest of the Canary Islands– was born during this phenomenon. The island’s first inhabitants started spreading across the island in 1402, even though its rebellious volcanoes reactivated in 1730 and 1824, ravaging over ten villages. Nature cannot be tamed!

The most significant volcanic eruption occurred in the 18th century, in Vega de Timanfaya. Rocks, debris, ashes and sand covered the island. The Timanfaya National Park shows the aftermath of this event, with an extension of over 200 km and more than 25 volcanoes, making it a treasure to geologists everywhere.

Our top summer activities

Our top summer activities

Enjoy the holidays with your family! Here are our top recommendations to make it easier than ever.

As families grows, holidays change. We must think about the little ones during the summer, especially when planning getaways. If you have run out of ideas, here are some fantastic activities for children to enjoy.

Harmlessly exploring the animal kingdom

If you are staying in any of our hotels in Andalusia, visit Bioparc in Fuengirola, a zoo where children can learn about animals. Unlike traditional zoos, Bioparc has multi-species spaces where different animals coexist.

Adventures in nature

When children have lots of energy, there is nothing better than organising an activity where they can release it. The Parque Aventura Amazonia Granada park, in the Natural Park of Sierra de Huétor, includes 69 tree activities and 22 zip-lines. As the cherry on top, why not have a picnic at the park? The perfect day out with children!

Summer on a Spanish terrace

Summer on a Spanish terrace

Explore the beauty of Spanish villages while having dinner on these summer terraces, and take a break from the heat!

Night falls, and the cool summer breeze starts to blow. It’s the perfect time to put on a thin jacket and step outside to enjoy the summer terraces that we famously love in Spain.

You’ll find plenty of information about the very well-known terraces that receive praise from bloggers. However, if you want to avoid the more touristey areas, Elba Hotels recommends the following more secluded, picturesque options.

La Casita (Montejaque, Málaga)

Montejaque is located in the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park. This idyllic village is filled with narrow streets and high stone walls. There, you can find ‘La Casita’; its terrace serves as a fantastic viewpoint while you enjoy a delicious pumpkin risotto paired with some local wine.

Dis Tinto (La Herradura, Granada)
