Elba Hotels goes to a festival this weekend! On November 7, 8 and 9 the Festival WOMAD Fuerteventura will be hosted in the locality of Gran Tarajal.

A great opportunity for the music and culture lovers alike. 

Many people will travel to the island to enjoy this wonderful festival, therefore the island wlll offer special boat connections and airfares for the festival fans. The event will also promote awareness against global warming.

Gran Tarajal has been chosen because its proximity to Africa, given that the culture of the continent is one of the key components of the festival’s philosophy, which is then spread all over the world. Run by the musicians themselves, the workshops for adults will offer a great opportunity to learn to dance and play instruments from different countries, as well as to enjoy anecdotes and stories from different places in the world.

The cuisine will also be present at WOMAD, featuring the best flavours and dishes, as well as different local and international craft stands. 

The little ones will also be able to join the festival’s talented artists, creating giant sculptures and different fun objects that they will be able to show during the Child Parade on Sunday. Following the same theme of the Environment Awareness, the materials used for the children’s different activities will be recyclable. 

The British artist Angus Watt, the Fuerteventura band “La Sonrisa de Guirre” and the Barcelona-born DJ Manel Ruiz who is based now in the Canary Islands will be some of the performers that will rock the dance floors and stages, which have been prepared on sand for the festival. 

In 2012, WOMAD celebrated its 30th edition and it still continues being the world's most iconic representative of multiculturalism. Over 2,500 artists have travelled to a score of stages around the world bringing fun and music to millions of people.
