Oktoberfest is coming! We’ll tell you about the origins of this popular German celebration and the best ways to celebrate it with Elba Hotels.

The Bavarian beer festival is about to begin. This weekend in Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Chile and, of course, Spain, Oktoberfest 2018 will kick off, a tradition that is over two centuries old and brings together 6 million annual visitors in the city of Munich.

The rules state that during these two weeks only beer from the six factories in Munich can be served and it must be of the Märzen variety. This type is not fermented for long and may have an alcohol content of up to 6%, being stronger and darker than traditional beer.

Happy Friendship Day!

On 30 July Friendship Day is celebrated, a day to enjoy with those who love and care for us all year round!

What would we be without our friends? Our friends share our daily lives, our secrets, sleepless nights and of course, those party nights which are the source of so many conversations the following day and which, no matter how much time has passed, will always be remembered.

We at Elba Hotels know that taking a holiday with your friends is one of the best things you can do and that these plans are ageless. Discover how to celebrate with your friends on 30 July.

Why do we celebrate Friendship Day?

On 20 July 1958 a group of friends in Paraguay got together to celebrate the Day of the Tree. The doctor Artemio Bracho was the person who came up with the idea in his speech. At that meeting the World Friendship Crusade was formed with the motto “For a better and more humane world”.

Fuerteventura with kids

Fuerteventura is perfect for a family vacation. In today’s post, we’ll tell you the best plans and tips for enjoying Fuerteventura with your kids.

Traveling to Fuerteventura is a family adventure in itself. Tour the dunes of Corralejo aboard a jeep, go on a small safari at the Oasis Park Fuerteventura or enjoy a quiet, charming village like Betancuria— these are just some of the tourist activities in Fuerteventura to do with kids.

The island of Fuerteventura is easy to see by car thanks to its size. Having few high mountains, it makes it possible to travel from north to south and enjoy a different way of visiting the island with kids.

What to do with kids on Fuerteventura

In the town of Pájara you can find the Costa Calma. Serene virgin beaches like Sotavento, the Viejo Rey beach, or Costa Calma beach are ideal for enjoying a bit of peace and quiet. However, nature also plays a role— you can go on an excursion to the Ajuy Cave or Cardón Mountain. Surely you can make great memories with the little ones on a bio tourist visit to the Oasis Park Fuerteventura.

International Gay Pride

International Gay Pride

Gay Pride demands diversity and sexual freedom in many Spanish cities. We’ll tell you how this movement came about and where to celebrate it.

No one should be ashamed of their sexual orientation. We should all be free to express ourselves and show who we are. These are the main demands of International Gay Pride, or LGTBI Pride. With this celebration, the group fights against marginalisation due to people’s tastes or sexual/affective identity.

The Meaning of Gay Pride

The origin of this initiative dates back to 28th June, 1969, when the New York police raided the Stonewall pub, a popular club within the LGTBI community; although at that time this type of raid was common, on this occasion the police lost control and the clientele rebelled. These actions led to a series of violent events known as the Stonewall riots, which marked the beginning of the commemoration of LGTBI Pride and, as a result, the fight for the rights of homosexuals.

Summer is upon us, and with it, the terrace season. We’ll tell you about the best spots to have a drink outside.

Speaking about Spain in summer is synonymous with its lively streets, people walking around and enjoying our cuisine and, of course, the atmosphere on the terraces and what keeps them going.

Terrace season has begun with the arrival of June, when bars and restaurants offer their services outdoors and when the most unexpected cocktails can be found at our tables. Elba Hotels will tell you everything you need to know about this new terrace season.

Terrace charm

The sun, a beer and a tapa are the main charms of summer’s arrival. Terraces have something special, something that stops you from leaving them and that makes you come back the next day. Maybe it’s the music, the cocktails or the heat, but the reality is that the Spanish summer wouldn’t really be summer without its terraces.
