Cabo de Gata, a Spanish natural wonder

22 / 07 / 2014 - Elba news

The Natural Park of Cabo de Gata-Nijar in Almeria has been chosen by popular vote as one of the seven Spanish natural wonders. Allianz Global Assistance organised an online poll last month where over 82,000 people participated!

According to the organization the top of the list is headed by Gaztelugatxe rock in Bermeo (Bizkaia), followed by the Natural Park of Somiedo in Asturias and the Natural Park of Cabo de Gata in Almeria.

The Natural Park of Cabo de Gata-Nijar is a very unique place thanks to its landscapes and beauty and constitutes the first Maritime-Land Park in Andalucía. Its origins are volcanic and the protected space covers the greatest maritime-land surface and it is the most relevant ecologically speaking in the whole Western Mediterranean.

It is especially recommended for those who seek unique places, it is one of the most beautiful coastal stretches and with a wonderful ecological wealth in Western Mediterranean Sea.

Apart from the three locations mentioned, other locations chosen by the voters were Las Medulas, the Natural Park of Lagunas de Ruidera, Fuente De and the As Catedrais Beach.

Without a doubt, choosing only seven locations must have been tricky. All of them are dreamy locations that will leave anybody open-mouthed: Irati Forest, the National Park of Timanfaya, the National Park of the Atlantic islands, the Stone Monastery, the National Park of Teide, Tinto River, the National Park of Monfragüe, Torcal in Antequera, Drach Caves, the National Park of Doñana, the Natural Park of Albufera, Montserrat Massif and Hayedo de Montejo are some of the locations that also aspired to these positions.

Wouldn’t you like to visit them all?
