If you read our blog article about the benefits of Thalassotherapy and the properties of sea water, you will know that it contains all of the essential minerals found, naturally, in the human body; such as copper, zinc, magnesium, sodium, iodide, potassium, calcium and so on. Knowing that, you can imagine what properties a plant growing in the sea must have.
When it comes to sea plants, the most renowned is seaweed or Alga, but when someone mentions seaweed, what ideas come to your mind? Do you think of a weed washed up on the beach? Do you think of health food shops or sushi? Or, do you picture fish feeding on the sea bed somewhere?
No doubt, the idea of seaweed probably makes everyone think of something different. However, if you’ve never an article about Alga and its benefits, you may be surprised to discover that it is one of the oldest living foods to be used, internally and externally to the body, for medicinal purposes; especially throughout China. You may also be surprised to learn that there is a large selection of different types of seaweed; all with their own beneficial properties.
From Wasabi to Nori to Spirulina, from green to red to brown, all algae have antioxidant properties that are very beneficial to the body because they contain essential nutrients such as: Vitamin K, Calcium and Magnesium.
Just as the benefits of Algae can be reaped from ingestion, so the body, too, can benefit tremendously from an alga wrap.
For this particular treatment, the client is painted the whole length of the body, from the neck down to the feet, in an algae paste, produced from ground algae mixed with warm water. Or, if the alga is self-heating, the paste may be mixed with cold water. Once completely covered in alga, the client is wrapped in a plastic sheet, covered with a towel and left to relax.
As the body temperature rises, the pores of the skin begin to open. Almost simultaneously, the beneficial properties of the alga are released, and absorbed, through the pores and into body; nourishing it on an epidermis level as well as a deeper muscular tissue level and finally on a complete physiological level: not to mention the psychological benefits of relaxation.
An alga wrap will leave the skin feeling softer and looking younger. It will help to promote weight loss. In fact, it can and should be used as part of any weight loss program. It can rid the body of toxins, which makes it excellent to incorporate with any detox program and it will leave a person feeling, generally, more balanced.
If you’ve never tried an alga wrap, you should definitely put it on your list of things to do. Why not call us on 952 809225, and let us make a reservation for you.
