Fuerteventura is an ideal destination for the adventurous, sporty types. Water sports, hiking, diving... we’ll tell you about the best options!
Travelling in autumn is often synonymous with raingear, a duvet and a hot coffee for breakfast. On the Canary Islands, everything is different. The warm temperatures and constant sunshine let you forget that it’s the end of the year and invite you to visit the island and enjoy its charms to the fullest.
A beach destination par excellence, the island of Fuerteventura is also known for the varied options for visitors to practise all kinds of sports on land, and in the sea and air. Come discover it!
Fuerteventura, an adventure destination
Huge cliffs, gentle mountains and perfectly preserved volcanoes. This is what’s waiting for you on the island, one with a strong connection to hiking and cyclocross. Routes such as Morro Veloso - Morro Janana or on Los Lobos Island are perfect for the less experienced.
If you prefer to be close to the beach, we can suggest the town of Tindaya and it’s "Magic Mountain" with various routes, depending on the distance you intend to hike. For the more experienced among you, the Montaña Cardón Natural Monument is one of the most impressive landscapes on the island of Fuerteventura, although it is not easily accessible.
If you feel like water sports, the “beach of the Canaries”, as it is known, is just what you’re looking for. Two to four metre waves, strong and constant winds and a stable sport infrastructure makes Fuerteventura one of the best spots in the world for surfing, windsurfing, kitesurfing and bodyboarding.
And lastly, if your passion is the Atlantic seabed, remember that each island has certain characteristics that make it unique. Specifically, Fuerteventura has crystal clear waters where you can reach a visibility of up to 30 meters. The most ideal spot? Around the Jandía beaches. You’ll love it!
