Natural Parks near Elba Hotels: Discover nature at your doorstep

Natural Parks near Elba Hotels

Exploring nature is a passion for many. This activity allows us to bond with our family members, while discovering the beautiful 131 natural parks and 15 national parks across Spain. Many of these are near Elba Hotels. Today, we are going over some of our favourites to celebrate the European Day of Parks. Are you joining us?

  • One of Europe’s most important protected areas is Doñana Natural Park, only 30 minutes away from Elba Costa Ballena. This diverse ecosystem attracts many families with its breathtaking landscapes, pinewoods, great marshes, and migrating African and European birds.
  • Los Alcornocales Natural Park, near Elba Estepona, is shared between the provinces of Cádiz and Málaga, and covers 647 square miles. This vast park contains the largest population of cork trees in the world, as well as some very interesting species, including vegetation from the Cenozoic Era, white-throated dippers, and wildcats.
  • Mulhacén is the highest mountain in the Iberian Peninsula. Do you know where it is located? The answer is very close to Elba Motril and Elba AlmeríaSierra Nevada National Park. This beautiful range of mountains is popular amongst ski and snow lovers during the winter, while in the summer, visitors come to enjoy its rich fauna and flora.
  • Roque Aguayro is only 10 minutes away from Elba Vecindario, and has an altitude of over 500 metres. There are several gullies in this national park, such as Barranco de Balos, where you can find some of the most important cave art in Gran Canaria. Other spots you cannot miss are the Roque Aguayro Caves and the Las Pilas Gully.
  • The Timanfaya National Park is a must-see for those staying in the first Elba Hotel to have opened its doors – Elba Lanzarote.  There are major recorded eruptions between 1730-1736 and in 1824, which caused the landscapes and colours that attract many to this day. It is also the only park in the Spanish National Parks Network of primarily geological interest.
  • The UNESCO declared Fuerteventura a Biosphere Reserve in 2009. There is so much to discover on the island, from volcanic landscapes to beautiful beaches. If you are staying in Elba Carlota, Elba Sara, Elba Palace, Elba Lucía or Elba Castillo San Jorge, you cannot miss natural attractions such as the Natural Park Dunas de Corralejo.
