Discover some traditional New Year's Eve celebrations from different parts of the world.

New Year's Eve! Have you already decided wich outfit you will wear? Have you bought the grapes yet? In Spain it is tradition on New Year's Eve to eat twelve grapes when the clock strikes twelve o'clock at the turn of the year and put on some red underwear. In other countries these traditions would sound strange. Do you want to know what are the traditions in other places of the world? Keep reading!.

The most curious traditions in New Year

Surely you've heard about lentils; In Italy and Germany it is very typical to include this dish at New Year's Eve dinner to attract good luck and fortune. In Greece, they leave the legumes aside and opt for a bread prepared with basil in which they hide a coin and, as happens here with the King Cake, whoever finds it has guaranteed luck for 2020!

In Latin America they also opt for colorful underwear to attract good luck, although the color chosen depends on what you want to attract in the new year: red for love, yellow for fortune, green for health. It is definitely a very colorful New Year's Eve celebration. In addition, in countries like Puerto Rico or Uruguay, they choose to throw water through the window and clean the house from bad vibrations.

One of the most striking New Year's Eve traditions can be seen in central Europe countries, such as Germany or Austria. On the last day of the year they burn lead, which they then pour into a glass of water. The figure you get will predict your luck for next year. In Denmark they are louder and what they do is break dishes at the doors of houses. Can you imagine having to clean all that the next day?
