World Wildlife Day is here. Want to know what it means? Find out how you can surprise your family and enjoy all the treasures nature has to offer.
At Elba Hotels we want to celebrate the beauty of our planet and the variety of species of flora and fauna that call it home and, above all, raise awareness so that together we fight to continue enjoying an environment in which we are all important, and all have a place. This is the goal of World Wildlife Day, celebrated on the first Saturday of March.
This time the celebration will focus on big cats. Despite their apparent ferocity, their subsistence on our planet is being threatened. The tiger is an example of this, which has lost over 95% of its population over the last 100 years. Unfortunately, the acts of man are the main cause of this, not only directly, but also through inactivity.
When was World Wildlife Day first celebrated?
The General Assembly of the United Nations decided on 20 December 2013 to proclaim 3 March as World Wildlife Day. The date coincides with the approval of the 1973 Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, which is particularly important regarding the protection of animals in international trade.
How is World Environment Day celebrated?
There are many ways to celebrate a holiday such as this. You can simply go out to the countryside and enjoy a day surrounded by nature, being aware of everything that Mother Earth provides on a daily basis.
At Elba Hotels we suggest different plans to celebrate the beauty of nature, taking your lifestyle into account, with a wide variety of destinations and with the guarantee of finding the calm and rest that we all crave after a day getting lost in nature.
