This time the celebration will focus on big cats. Despite their apparent ferocity, their subsistence on our planet is being threatened. The tiger is an example of this, which has lost over 95% of its population over the last 100 years. Unfortunately, the acts of man are the main cause of this, not only directly, but also through inactivity.

When was World Wildlife Day first celebrated?

The General Assembly of the United Nations decided on 20 December 2013 to proclaim 3 March as World Wildlife Day. The date coincides with the approval of the 1973 Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora, which is particularly important regarding the protection of animals in international trade.

How is World Environment Day celebrated?
