The Gran Hotel Elba Estepona & Thalasso Spa

The medical team of the Thalasso Therapy Centre of the Gran Hotel Elba Estepona, led by Dr. Alberto Cerrada, has been awarded the Best Oral Communication prize presented at the International Congress of Medical Hydrology and Thalasso Therapy. This international congress, celebrated every 4 years, was held in Istanbul, Turkey, where representatives of the some of the best specialists of Thalasso Therapy and Spa treatments of more than 40 countries were present. The Medical team of the Thalasso Therapy centre of the Gran Hotel Elba Estepona presented an investigation project regarding treatments with sea water and its benefits for health. The oral presentations were given every day of the congress during 4 sessions. A total of 30 investigation projects were presented from the following countries: Italy, France, Germany, Spain, Hungary, UK, Romania, Serbia and Montenegro, Holland, Czech Republic, Russia, Kazakhstan, Israel, Turkey, Cuba, Argentina, Japan, United States and South Africa. The following issues were addressed: rehabilitation, pain, dermatology, water as a drink, osteoporosis, stress, peloides, physical exercise, cosmetology, thalasso therapy, etc.

This award reveals the high scientific standards of the Spanish centres and their investigation units, as compared to other countries with greater tradition and resources. It also values the present concern for Thalasso therapy and all the studies regarding the use of sea water and its products. This prize places the hotel chain Elba and its Thalasso therapy centre as an internationally aclaimed Spa centre and distinguished for offering sea water therapies for health and wellness.
